Rufe Snow Drive Expansion Project
Rufe Snow Drive Expansion Project: 2016-2018
As construction on Rufe Snow at Loop 820 ended, further expansion of Rufe Snow has begun from Mid Cities Boulevard to Ridgetop Road. This project will widen the existing 5-lane thoroughfare to 7 lanes, similar to the portion of Rufe Snow south of Mid-Cities Boulevard. This 1.25 mile section of roadway will be reconstructed as a more durable concrete street with sidewalks along both sides, signalization improvements at the major intersections, and all necessary water and sewer main adjustments. Construction is anticipated for completion in mid-2018.
While this project will greatly improve congestion in this heavily traveled corridor, the construction phase will be challenging at times for adjacent property owners and area motorists. City staff will be working closely with the contractor to expedite the process and preserve as much mobility as possible. During construction, two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.
The sections below provide more detail on the project for both residents and businesses. As construction progresses, more information will be posted here to keep you well informed throughout the project duration.
